Set of 4 Rare Wim Rietveld ''Pyramid'' Chairs
Wim Rietveld / Ahrend de Cirkel / Netherlands
Rare set of 4, mid-century, Wim Rietveld designed ''Pyramid'' chairs. Created by Rietveld (son of Dutch "De Stijl" luminary Gerrit Rietveld) in 1959 for Netherlands based furniture manufacturer Ahrend de Cirkel. This design, with its beautifully realized lines and its open look, won the highly coveted ‘Signe d’Or’ Design Award in 1960. It's widely considered to be a triumph of Dutch post-war design and has won acclaim far beyond The Netherlands. This set of medium grey framed chairs is in very good original condition with a sturdy yet comfortable teak seat and back, making it an extremely durable and comfortable chair. Some chipping and scratching to the seats and frame caused by normal use, there may be some cracking to the feet- all consistent with the set's age and usage. Priced as a set.
