Produced by Zeiss Ikon in the 1920s to a design by Adolf Meyer, Bauhaus faculty member and former collaborator of Peter Behrens. The JS 18 features a conical enamel shade with a mirrored glass reflector incorporating a concentric prismatic pattern for functional light distribution. The original metal mounting collar with specification label remains intact. Meyer's approach aligned with the Bauhaus principle that industrial production and engineering logic should drive form. The lamp shows wear consistent with age and use.
