Exceptional Italian Marquetry 'Ship' Desk

Exceptionally beautiful, 1950s Italian Mid-Century "Ship" desk with highly intricate decorative marquetry inlay woodwork. The top features an expertly crafted and beautifully realized sailing ship motif. The desk is handsomely outfitted with built in shelves and keyed drawers but sadly the locks are currently not in working condition. The very intricate and somewhat delicate marquetry inlay might best be protected with a glass top to preserve the design. Glass is not included. The chair opening is 15.625". This desk is in very original condition with some visible wear and patina, including drying of the inlay, causing bubbling and some loss of veneer.
