Dutch Mid-Century Rattan and Smoked Glass Coffee Table with Lucite Legs

Dutch Mid-Century, 1960s, strikingly designed coffee table with rattan basket, smoked glass top and transparent lucite legs. This round coffee table, manufactured with great expertise by the famed Rohe Noordwolde company, combines clear lucite legs with a contrasting smoked plate glass top and a hand-woven rattan basket shelf. The transparent supports create an attractive visual lightness and the skillfully hand-woven rattan basket provides functional storage while adding organic texture. Rohé Noordwolde was one of the largest rattan factories in the province of Frisia, producing rattan furniture, cradles, and wooden furniture. Hundreds of thousands of pieces of rattan furniture saw the light of day there. This table is a stunning example of their craft and design.
