Ludwig Mies van der Rohe 'Barcelona' Reproduction
Mies van der Rohe Style / Italy
Ludwig Mies van der Rohe designed the Barcelona chair in 1929 for the German Pavilion at Barcelona's International Exposition, creating one of the most recognized furniture designs of the 20th century. Gavina produced this example under license from Knoll during their brief authorized manufacturing period in the 1960s. The construction employs flat bar stainless steel formed into crossed supports, with each leg composed of a single continuous piece of metal. Upholstery features 40 button-tufted leather panels with hand-welted seams, requiring specialized craftsmanship to achieve the precise quilted surface. This is a fine, high quality replica, with white leather cushions on a heavy chrome frame. Chair has wear consistent with age and use. Ottoman listed separately (S364S)
