Mid-Century Modern Set Zilmeta Stainless Steel Pots by Dick Simonis for Gero designed by Dick Simonis, 1958
Dick Simonis / Gero / Netherlands
Designer Dick Simonis created Mid-Century cookware for Gero from 1958. Simonis, the son of the company's director Henri Simonis, was the Gero factory's only permanent designer, and the technically sound objects he created for the manufacturer stand out for their simple, unadorned lines. The influence of Denmark, where he received some of his training, is evident. In 1958, he created the Gero "Zilmeta" (a proprietary stainless steel developed by the company that did not require maintenance and was ideal for the manufacture of pans, bowls, and serving utensils) cookware line. That line went on to win awards in Brussels and Canada for its superior quality and appealing shape. This is in original condition with some age appropriate wear. Set consists of 1x: 8/12 x 5/5.625 (2L) and 2x: 7/10 x 5/5.625 (2.5L)
