A true icon of 1970s Italian style, this Mario Bellini 'Le Bambole' Sofa for C&B Italia was originally designed in 1972 and subsequently awarded with the Compasso d'Oro in 1979. It is said to have been inspired by a bag Bellini allegedly found on the ground that looked like a big pillow. Made of a super-light, hidden tubular steel frame that is enveloped by flexible polyurethane foam. The frame and polyurethane work together to maintain the sofa's shape while it is in use. This piece is in original condition with visible patina and staining and had been re-stuffed by previous owner as well as some patching in the back left seat corner. There is a residual dog smell in that area as well. The sofa has a heavy patina with wear consistent with its age and use.
