Gispen industrial cabinet or sideboard with wood top and sliding doors. Beige enameled metal frame with gray and black enameled metal sliding doors with round metal inset pulls and can lock. The backs are finished making this piece a perfect room or space divider. Gispen's origins are in Rotterdam, where on September 4, 1916, industrial designer W.H. Gispen founded the Kunstsmederij WH Gispen & Co. Gispen was a pioneering designer and businessman who belonged to the global functionalist avant-garde.He oversaw the company's growth in the 1920s, which saw it become the first plant in the Netherlands to produce office and home furnishings made of tubular steel. During the Post-War 'Good Living' period designs for modern residential interiors as well as workplace spaces emerged. This piece, in original condition with key and visible wear consistent with its age and use. stems from that era. Similar cabinets also available and listed separately.
