1960's Ahrend de Cirkel large industrial gray enameled metal bookshelf with rotating shelves. Each circular shelf is divided into four sections. Founded in 1896, Ahrend initially focused on small goods with the first office furniture (which was to become the company’s focus) sold in 1926, After acquiring a major stake in De Circle the company is able from 1941 on to develop and produce products in-house. With the release of 1953's "Revolt" chair by Friso Kramer (S231 here on the site) the company forges a breakthrough in industrial design and cements its place in Dutch post-war design. This piece, from the Company's pioneering post war years, is in original condition with visible wear consistent with its age and use.
