Raymond Loewy Designed Nordmende Spectra Futura Transistor Radio
Raymond Loewy / Nordmende / Germany
The Nordmende Design Center collaborated in the late 1960's with renowned American designer Raymond Loewy, who created iconic designs like the Coca-Cola bottle and Lucky Strike pack. Collaborating with the American designer was an excellent choice. The device that was the result. the Spectra Futura Transistor Radio, was a sales success, outperforming all similar radio receivers from other brands, which occasionally attempted to awkwardly imitate its shape. It was produced in many versions with many color combinations, with the most flamboyant model undoubtedly being the Orange-Red. All in all a lovely device to look at that complements both modern and vintage furnishings with a design created in the United States using a German-made machine. Built in speaker.
