Acrylic on canvas painting by Dutch artist Wim Straatman (1913-2002). This large modern expressionist piece is an abstraction in shades of ochre, blush and tan. Quickly brushed organic forms are harmoniously layered and composed as if refracting light and space, taking cues from Braque, Duchamp, and Léger. Signed W. Straatman MIH, 1976. Unframed and in original condition with visible including some paint loss down the left side in areas. Wear is consistent with its age and use.
