P.E.L Izeren for "De Genneper Molen" The Hague School Oak Cabinet, 1930s

P.E.L Izeren / Genneper Molen / Netherlands

Modernist, 1930s, "The Hague School," cabinet in oak with contrasting coromandel wood base accent. Lovely piece that is a "The Hague School" classic by the style-defining designer P.E.L. Izeren (1886-1943). Expertly manufactured by The "De Genneper Molen" company and similar to Frank Lloyd Wright's style, this desk is a gorgeous example of the "The Hague School", a counterpart to the more famous, more decorative "Amsterdam School". Both the Haugue and Amsterdam School can be considered a Dutch version of the "Art Deco" movement. This piece shows signs of modification from previous owner, sick as top was originally glass and now has an oak panel, side lock removed from the side door, as wells a hole in the back for electrical cords. In otherwise original condition with age appropriate wear.
