"De Stijl" Gerrit Rietveld 'Berlin' Chair, 1923

Gerrit Rietveld / Gerard van de Groenekan / Netherlands

Simply stunning 'Berlin Chair' designed by "De Stijl" founder and pioneering Dutch designer Gerrit Rietveld and built by his trusted furniture builder Gerard A. van de Groenekan. This innovative, asymmetric chair was designed in 1923 by the iconic Rietveld for the "Juryfreie Kunstschau" in Berlin using his characteristically austere geometric forms. It is a black, white and gray lacquered wood chair ingeniously constructed with striking use of lines and planes. It is in original condition with some visible wear consistent with its age and use.
