Rare 1954 Mold Blown Blenko 22" Smoked Glass Vase "Model 5421" by Wayne Husted

Wayne Husted designed this vase for Blenko Glass Company in 1954 and produced through 1956. This model is in the permanent collection at the Toledo Art Museum. Employs mold-blowing technique with triangular cylindrical form and abstract relief decoration created during the forming process. Transparent pale gray glass transitions to darker charcoal toward the polished rim, demonstrating Blenko's advanced color saturation methods. Measures nearly 22 inches in height with 6 1/2 inch diameter. Hand-cut and polished finishing typical of Blenko's studio glass production. Wear consistent with age and use.
