A true icon of Italian design, the 'Le Bambole' daybed by Mario Bellini for C&B Italia (later B&B Italia) is a masterpiece of form and function. Designed in 1972 and celebrated with the 'Compasso d'Oro', the series is now part of MoMA's permanent collection. Bellini's goal was to create furniture that was "built in fabric rather than upholstered with it," giving the collection its revolutionary sculptural form. He achieved this through innovative construction - a hidden internal metal frame provides stability, while generously padded polyurethane foam creates the illusion of a soft, flowing shape. This piece, in original butterscotch suede has age-appropriate wear, a mark of its authenticity and history.
