Dutch Mid-Century, 1940s, Gispen manufactured "Model 412" Chair. Masterfully designed by the pioneering W.H. Gispen, a towering figure in pre- and post-war modernism. It is an absolutely iconic Dutch design. Its highly recognizable Gispen aesthetic lends the chair an almost Bauhaus like appeal and the cantilevered frame suggests a floating seat. The welcoming, rounded shapes and black armrests add to style and comfort. Piece has some age appropriate signs of wear. Newer wool upholstery by previous owner, while the frame remains in original condition.
