Dutch Small Yellow Planter from Adco
Adco / Netherlands
Dutch small yellow planter from Adco. Marked Adco 21164 on bottom. Visible wear including scratches. Wear is consistent with its age and use. The name Adco is derived from Ada and Coco, the names of the daughters of Geuchien Cornelis Limborgh Meijer, director of NV Groninger Steenfabrieken. Adco Pottery was founded in 1919, and until the Second World War, it mainly made minimalist, sleek, and timeless ceramics, with an emphasis on vases. In 1972 Adco was taken over by competing pottery De Porceleyne Fles. Foreign countries, however, could supply the mass products cheaper and in 1976 Adco went bankrupt.
