Dutch Mid-Century, Royal Sphinx "Riga" yellow ceramic pitcher or jug with a rounded body, smooth, sloping spout, and loop handle. Royal (meaning Koninklijke) Sphinx, founded in 1864, was a Dutch company based in Maastricht that initially produced primarily earthenware and, later, among other things, sanitary ware. This piece, part of the "Riga" pastel series from 1964, is in original condition with some wear consistent with its age. Matching cups also available in yellow, red and blue.
