Set of 4 'SE 69' Dining Chairs by Martin Visser for 't Spectrum, 1959

Martin Visser / 't Spectrum / Netherlands

Set of 4 'SE 69' dining chairs by Martin Visser for 't Spectrum, 1959. The chairs have black enameled frames with Wenge armrests and black skai upholstery. Visser, a quintessential designer of the Dutch post-war design movement began working for 't Spectrum in 1954 and soon spearheaded the company's entire collection. He had an architectural and civil engineering background and his designs were influenced by functionalism, industrial design, and craft-built furniture. Characteristic of his work are the use of welded tubing and sparse, clean, and clearly defined forms. These chairs, a lovely example of his work for 't Spectrum, are in original condition with some visible wear consistent with their age and use. Shown with picture taken from the original 1959 catalog these first appeared in.
